Ordering a dress from a designer in India used to mean a long wait and a lot of guessing. It doesn’t have to. If you know how production, shipping, customs and sizing work before you check out, buying from India is no harder than ordering from a boutique at home, and you get a dress cut to your measurements instead of a standard size off a rail.
This guide covers what happens after you click “Place order” at Bee Boe: how long it takes, what it costs to ship, who pays customs duties, how sizing works, and what to do if something isn’t right.
Why people buy designer dresses from India
Three reasons come up again and again from our customers in the US, UK, UAE, Canada and Australia.
- Made to order, not mass produced. Most Indian designer labels, including Bee Boe, cut each piece after you order it. That means fewer leftovers, and it means the dress can be cut to your size.
- Custom fit at no extra cost. Sizing is the biggest problem with buying clothes online. When the dress is made after you order, you can send your bust, waist and hip measurements and have it cut to them.
- Craft you can’t find on the high street. Hand finishing, draping and embellishment that would cost several times more from a Western atelier.
How long does delivery take?
Delivery time has two parts: making the dress, and shipping it.

If you have a date to dress for, such as a wedding, a holiday party or New Year’s Eve, order at least three to four weeks ahead. That leaves room for making, shipping and customs clearance. You can see the full details on our shipping policy page.
Customs duties and import taxes
This is the question we get most, and the honest answer is that it depends on your country, not on us.
- USA: imported clothing is subject to US customs duties, and the rules have changed several times since 2025. Since August 2025, low-value parcels are no longer exempt.
- UK: VAT is charged on imported goods, and duty may apply depending on the order value.
- UAE: customs duty and VAT apply above a set value threshold.
- Canada and Australia: GST and, in some cases, duty apply above set thresholds.
At Bee Boe, duties and import taxes are not included in our prices or shipping fee. They’re set by your country’s customs and are usually collected by the courier before delivery. Country-specific details are on our USA, UK and UAE delivery pages.

Getting the size right from another country
Indian, US and UK sizes don’t line up neatly. An Indian M is not a US M. That’s why we ask for measurements instead of relying on a size label.
- Measure your bust, waist and hips with a soft tape. Our step-by-step guide shows exactly how to measure yourself for a custom-fit dress.
- Choose Custom as the size on the product page and enter your measurements.

Returns, fit and cancellations
All sales at Bee Boe are final: because pieces are made to order or customised to your specifications, we don’t accept returns or offer refunds. What protects you instead is fit.
- Perfect Fit Promise: if your garment doesn’t fit as agreed with the measurements or size you gave, contact us within 48 hours of delivery with your order number and photos. You get one free size exchange or correction (alteration or remake) per order. It covers fit only, not change of mind or colour and style preference.
- Damaged, defective or incorrect items: email hi@beeboe.com with your order number and photos or a video of the issue.
- Changes and cancellations: you can change your size, measurements or address, or cancel, within 24 hours of ordering. After that, your dress may already be in production.
Read the full Fit Guarantee, Returns & Cancellation Policy before you order. Ten minutes with a tape measure is still the best protection: the Fit Promise doesn’t cover incorrect measurements supplied by the customer.
Paying safely
International orders are paid securely through Razorpay, which accepts major international credit and debit cards, and are paid in full at checkout. Two tips:
- Tell your bank you’re making an international purchase if your card sometimes blocks overseas payments.
- Check whether your card charges a foreign transaction fee; many travel cards don’t.

How long does shipping from India to the USA take?
10–15 days after your dress is made. Customs can add a few days in busy seasons, so order three to four weeks before your event.
Will I have to pay customs duty?
Usually, yes. Duties aren’t included in our prices; your country’s customs sets them and the courier collects them before delivery. In the US, duty applies to every imported parcel whatever its value.
Can I return a dress bought from India?
Bee Boe pieces are made to order, so all sales are final and returns aren’t accepted. If the fit isn’t right, contact us within 48 hours of delivery for one free size exchange or correction.
Can I cancel my order?
