A co-ord set is the most useful thing you can pack for a holiday. Two pieces that match look like one outfit, but split apart they become three or four: the top with jeans, the skirt with a white shirt, both together for dinner. They take up less space than three dresses and look more put together than most of them.

This guide covers how to choose a co-ord for the kind of trip you are taking, how to pack it, and how to get more outfits out of every piece.

Why co-ords work so well for travel

Beach and island holidays

Choose breathable fabrics and easy shapes. Linen and mesh are your best friends in heat and humidity.

City breaks

For cities, choose co-ords that can go from a gallery in the afternoon to a rooftop bar at night with a change of shoes.

Weddings, parties and festive trips

A dressy co-ord is often easier to dance in than a gown, and the skirt can be re-worn with a plain top on the next day of the trip.

How to pack a co-ord set

  1. Roll the skirt, fold the top. Long skirts roll without creasing; structured or boned tops keep their shape best folded flat on top of your case.
  2. Pack each set together. Keep both pieces in one packing cube so you never arrive with half an outfit.
  3. Use tissue for satin and velvet. A sheet between the folds stops the fabric rubbing and marking.
  4. Steam, don’t iron. Hang the pieces in the bathroom while you shower and most creases drop out.

If you only pack two sets, choose one relaxed and one dressy. Add a pair of jeans, a white shirt, a knit and two pairs of shoes, and you have a full week of outfits.

Choosing the right fit

The biggest advantage of a co-ord is that the top and bottom can fit different parts of your body. Many people are one size on top and another on the bottom; with a dress, that means compromising somewhere. When you choose Custom size on a Bee Boe co-ord, we cut each piece to your bust, waist and hip measurements at no extra cost. Our guide shows how to measure yourself, and our size conversion chart helps if you prefer a standard size.

FAQ

What is a co-ord set?

A co-ord (short for coordinated) set is a matching top and bottom, usually in the same fabric and colour, designed to be worn together or as separates.

Are co-ord sets good for travel?

Yes. They create several outfits from two pieces, pack flat and are easy to dress up or down.

Can I wear a co-ord set to a wedding?

Yes. A satin, velvet or embellished co-ord with a long skirt suits most wedding guest dress codes, including sangeet and cocktail nights.

Which fabric is best for a holiday co-ord?

Linen and mesh for beach and hot weather; satin and velvet for evenings and cooler destinations.
